bodywork that interrupts pain cycles and centers positive functional patterns

Pain is personal.
It’s the unwelcome messenger that nobody wants to hear.
Yet, pain alone rarely tells us the whole story – the ‘why’.
When we chase sensations of pain without curiosity, we might start to see and label areas of the body as ‘problems’. Unfortunately, this focus isolates parts from the whole, when pain is often connected to larger, complex factors –
the functional interactions between body systems, stress and emotional dysregulation, unconscious daily patterns, and the ways we’ve moved throughout our lives.
Without investigation, we risk missing the big picture of what is driving discomfort.
The bodywork I aim to provide explores alternatives and seeks nuance in the answers by incorporating concepts from bodywork pioneers like Tom Myers, Ida Rolf, and Moshe Feldenkrais.
Having the courage to adjust our approach and see things differently can open us up to new ways of negotiating ease in our bodies.

Sessions often incorporate multiple modalities, which we tailor fit to benefit how your body is showing up on the table that day.
We will always start with a check-in:
current issues you want to address,
your goals,
From there, we will collaborate on a plan for the session so we both know what to expect from our time together and adjust as needed.
To my Survivors and “people-pleasers”:
Asking questions or expressing your needs during a session is ENCOURAGED!
Our therapeutic relationship will not be damaged if you disagree with a bodywork plan or “annoy” me with any change requests.
I’m 1000% on your team.
This is a great place to practice boundary-setting, saying “no”, and changing your mind.
I can offer you education and perspective,
but I don’t live in your body – YOU DO.
This is why our collaboration together is so valuable and necessary!

Because bodywork is an investment in the self, I don’t believe in nickel-and-diming people for adjunct therapies that can benefit our sessions.

The trajectory of my life has always pointed towards service.
With psychosocial influences on health being at the forefront of my interests, I worked as a research assistant in Barbara Lehman’s stress and coping lab and graduated WWU with a B.A. in health psychology in 2013. With an advanced degree in mind, I set my sights on psychiatric nursing.
Bodywork was never the plan.
But after spending 8 years providing palliative care to medically complex patients, trauma advocacy to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, and working within the Seattle shelter system
I experienced a type of burn out that rocked my world.
The psychosomatic wall I hit looked like months of insomnia and ocular migraines that altered my ability to function in the world. Above all, I felt a terrifying disconnect from my body.
Bodywork found me through a chance encounter with Dr. Kelly Moyaert, a naturopath that asked me to be open and try craniosacral therapy. A couple sessions of this subtle bodywork style changed the game, and

I come from the perspective that there is strength in biodiversity, which includes the biodiversity of bodies; The variety of shapes, colors, sizes, abilities, etc. we witness around us I interpret as expressions of possibility and are to be revered with loving kindness, respect, + dignity.
In the words of Kurt Cobain, “Come as you are”.
I want this to be a safe space for neuro and functional diversity, immunocompromised folks, queer and trans bodies,
BIPOC, survivors, mental health and trauma histories;
all ages, nationalities, spiritualities and religious identities;
grief, trauma-healing, exhaustion, goofiness and joy.
My ambition for The Center of You is to cultivate fearless authenticity in all those who enter and I enthusiastically welcome dialogue around improvements I can make to meet this goal!
